Super Crate Box is a little bit like a Long Island Iced Tea, its a combination of a few things that really shouldn’t go well together, but do. For those of you that have never played the original, SCB is and iOS port of Vlambeer’s (known for their work on Serios Sam: The Random Encounter and Riduculous Fishing, among other things) popular PC indie game of the same name but with a few additions in the form of both Gamecenter and Open Feint achievements, new unlockable characters, and player driven updates based on how many crates the global playerbase gathers over time (much akin to the way Noby Noby Boy on the PS3 does things).

Once again, Wizards of the Coast and Stainless Games unite for Magic: The Gathering- Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 (DotP2012). Following 2009’s release Magic: The Gathering- Duels of the Planeswalkers, DotP2012 is a standalone game based on (of course) Magic: The Gathering, a collectible card game introduced in 1993 and still thriving worldwide. Even though the developers could not implement all aspects of the original card game, they have strived for a “seamless transition” into the digital world, satisfying longtime fans and bringing newcomers to the genre.

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D (ReM for the duration of this review) takes the Mercenaries bonus mode from RE 4 and 5 and expands on it enough to make a full standalone game. And while this sounds like some half-assed attempt by Capcom to cash in twice on a new handheld by rehashing old games and concepts, it’s not, and it’s actually very fun!
